À propos de DualBright
DualBright est né d’une collaboration avec le designeur et tailleur de pierre Jean-Gabriel Franchini. Pensée à l’origine pour répondre aux contraintes de la gravure lapidaire, la famille s’articule autour d’un axe variable qui fait évoluer le dessin en continu entre une construction sans-serif, sobre et fonctionnelle, et une interprétation serif plus expressive. Une seule police permet ainsi d’ajuster le ton d’une inscription, de la stèle contemporaine la plus épurée à l’épitaphe classique aux détails plus raffinés.
Au fil de son développement, DualBright a quitté le seul terrain de la pierre pour devenir une famille display complète. Elle se décline en quatre styles — Plain, Outline, Stencil et Color — qui conservent tous la même variation serif/sans-serif. Chaque déclinaison explore une approche différente de la lettre : Plain privilégie la lisibilité et la précision, Outline réduit les formes à leur structure essentielle, Stencil joue sur les pleins et les vides pour produire un dessin plus graphique, tandis que Color exploite les technologies de polices couleur [ColrV1] pour recréer des effets de matière, de lumière et de profondeur.
Disponible en version variable, DualBright intègre le jeu de glyphes NBR, une large couverture linguistique ainsi que les principales fonctionnalités OpenType. Entre héritage lapidaire et outils numériques, la famille fait dialoguer un savoir-faire ancestral avec les usages contemporains du design graphique. À l’aise aussi bien gravée dans la pierre qu’affichée sur un écran, elle offre un terrain d’expression où précision technique et liberté formelle coexistent naturellement.
